History

USI was founded in 1992 by Carmine Aquila and Joseph Brandefine (Both Retired NYPD) and Christine Gelatt.  Originally, USI focused on the security needs of the United States Government. Over the years, USI’s ability to meet the stringent requirements of the U.S. Government allowed us to establish long standing partnerships with federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the General Services Administration.  As USI continued to grow, so did its reputation as a premier provider of security and investigative services.  Soon, firms from outside the government sector were inquiring into USI’s ability to meet their security needs and USI’s Corporate Security Division was established.

Today, USI is comprised of Three Divisions (Government Security Services, Corporate Security Services, Investigative Security Services) and services Clients in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Our employees will always represent the face and the voice of USI.  We believe our charge is in Attracting, Retaining and Training the best security professionals in every market and “in the Tri-State area, we believe that USI is the Largest Employer of Former NYPD and Corrections Officers in the contract security industry”.  Our ability to provide personnel of this caliber directly benefits our customers and distinguishes our offering in the market.
